Professor Jemimah Timothy Ekanem

Mrs. Jemimah T. Ekanem is a professor of Agricultural Extension and Rural Sociology and the current Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture at Akwa Ibom State University, Nigeria. With a Ph.D. from Michael Okpara University of Agriculture and over 20 years of academic experience, Prof. Ekanem has led numerous research and development initiatives focused on agricultural communication, rural development, and gender inclusion in agriculture. She has authored over 60 publications, co-authored books and policy monographs, and participated in more than 30 national and international conferences.

Prof. Ekanem is a founding member and the Managing Editor of the Journal of Community and Communication Research, as well as a co-founder of the Society for Community and Communication Development Research. Her work connects academic research with practical solutions, particularly through her philanthropic initiative, the Jemitim Foundation, which supports girls’ education and rural youth empowerment. She is an active member of professional networks, including AIAEE, AESON, RuSAN, and NIFAAS, and has garnered international recognition for her efforts to integrate social responsibility into sustainable agriculture.

Her experience and networks position her to lead or contribute significantly to multidisciplinary, community-focused grant projects in agriculture, education, and rural transformation.
