Dr Fadlulla O. Issa

Dr Fadlullah Olayiwola Issa is a Principal Extension Specialist (Associate Professor of Extension) in the National Agricultural Extension and Research Liaison Services (NAERLS), Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and currently the Head of Grant and Intervention Project Unit.
Fadlullah obtained his PhD in Agricultural Extension and Rural Sociology and Masters in Journalism from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria; MSc in Agricultural Extension and Rural Sociology from Olabisi Onabanjo University; and Masters Agricultural Policy and Administration from the University of Ibadan.
Dr Issa worked with Lagos State Agricultural Development Authority as extension worker from 1997 to 2009. He joined the service of NAERLS in 2009 as an Extension Specialist. He also lectures in the Departments of Agricultural Extension, Sociology, and Vocational and Technical Education in Faculties of Agriculture, Social Sciences, and Education, respectively, of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. He has supervised one post-doc researcher, 4 PhD, 15 MSc and over 35 undergraduate students. He currently serves as external examiner for the Department of Agricultural Extension and Management, Federal College of Animal Health and Production Technology, Vom, Plateau State, Nigeria.
His research and development work delves into the uptake and dissemination of agricultural innovations in smallholder farming systems; impact assessment, climate change, participatory extension as well as sustainable agricultural policy and administration. Dr Issa has served as consultant to various agencies such as Japan International Cooperation Agency, Volunteer Service Overseas. He coordinated the Michigan State University, Agricultural Research Policy for Africa (MSU-APRA) Small holder commercialization project in Kaduna State, Nigeria He is a Forum for Agricultural Research in Africa (FARA)-certified Knowledge Manager. He is a National Volunteer in the Winrock International F2F Program. He has participated in several international and multidisciplinary development research projects. He is a Fellow of the Agricultural Extension Society of Nigeria (AESON), a member of Rural Sociological Association of Nigeria (RuSAN) and Nigerian Forum for Agricultural Advisory Services (NIFAAS). He is currently the Vice President (North) for NIFAAS. He has over 150 publications in both local and international journals. He bagged the Grand Fellow of the Year Award by Ahmadu Bello University, 24th January 2024.
Over the years, Dr Issa has serves in the editorial board of the Journal of Agricultural Extension as sub-editor and reviewer. He has also served in the editorial board of other journals such as Samaru Journal of Agriculture, Sustainable Agriculture Research, Canadian Center of Science and Education, Asian Journal of Agricultural Extension, Economics & Sociology, and the and Nigeria Journal of Agricultural Extension. He has served the Agricultural Extension Society in different capacities. He served as Assistant General Secretary II from 2007-2010 and as Assistant General Secretary 2010-2015. In fact, he organized the 2015 Annual National Conference of 2015 as Secretary of LOC.
